Spine Twist

Will & Surrender (Stage Two)

Purpose:

  1. To strengthen Witness consciousness
  2. To awaken Discriminative Intellect
  3. To develop introspection
  4. To become aware of the subtle urgings of Prana

Process: 

Concentration is drawn to the internal vehicle via continuous
concentration on ever more subtle layers of sensation and the movement of breath within the body.

Principles:

  • Posture is engaged to the "edge" of sensation in each arising moment.
  • Posture is guided and constructed from the ground up.
  • Posture is constructed from gross to subtle, larger body parts and muscles first and smaller parts and details later.
  • Core lift is engaged to support and stabilize the base of the spine and alleviate strain to the joints.
  • Internal and external press points are used to provide a general orientation to the body and to engage the practitioner's own body dynamics.
  • Eyes are closed to facilitate sense withdrawal.
  • Breath is used as an anchor for the mind as sensations, emotions, and energies arise, are experienced, integrated, and subside.
  • Posture is held for longer periods to initiate a wave of energy and provide the basis for exploration and focus of attention.
  • Micro-movements are used to further explore and focus awareness to deeper levels of internal sensation.
